Digital X-Ray

The technology of digital x-rays has been a significant addition to the practice of dentistry. We can better protect our environment because we no longer need to use development chemicals in processing x-rays. Digital x-rays also require much less exposure time; approximately one tenth the usual amount.

As with other types of digital information we can manipulate the images, enlarge them, and send them electronically to our colleagues for conferring if necessary.

We often like to obtain what is called a full mouth set of x-rays. This is so we may have a radiographic image of all of the teeth including surrounding areas so that we can have a full diagnostic picture of the dental structures. When also like to take a digital x-ray prior to cementation of a laboratory fabricated crown, to ensure the fit and seal of the crown edge is perfect.
